Giving stuff away
April 8th, 2012 by Logan · No Comments
So I’m giving a few things away with a pretty cool movement called freecycle. Basically you just join a yahoo group and send an email saying what you’re giving away and how people can pick it up. I’ll be putting up a few pictures here, but if you want the stuff (plus heaps more from others around your area) then go ahead and join the movement. You can also get rid of the stuff you don’t need that’s been gathering dust in your basement. As they say: “One’s trash is another’s treasure”
Happy spring cleaning and stay keen…

SofaTutor
March 20th, 2012 by Logan · No Comments
I just found out about this great website. It’s similar to KhanAcademy, but you unfortunately need to pay to get access. Hat said, you can also upload your own teaching videos and make money for views and comments.
It’s called SofaTutor, and it’s Germany’s largest video tuition portal, not to mention a pretty awesome idea.
I’ll still stick with KhanAcademy for all the basic videos – especially mathematics – but if I need something explained in German (it happens, believe me) then this page is perfect.
Do you have any great study tips you’d like to share? Drop me a line in the comments…

Trying out the WordPress App
March 19th, 2012 by Logan · No Comments
A little late I know, but I’m trying out this WordPress app as a quicker way of updating here. The easier it is to work, the less resistance and the more quality material I can get out there.
That said: it is a pain to type anything out on such a little screen as the iPhone.
It’s not your fault iPhone, you’re doing your best I’m sure.
I’ve just joined an exciting portal to help me learn more effectively at school. More details to come, but it’s a lot like KhanAcademy
Let’s see what this looks like published.
Until then, stay keen…

Summer Semester: Day 2…again…
February 2nd, 2012 by Logan · No Comments
So after a slight false start, I’m here in the ‘real’ Köln Kolleg….and things are going well. I don’t want to jinx it or anything, but let’s just say I suck less than I thought I would. I still need to pick up a few books and get into the other subjects, but all in all it was ok.
I was late to German – which hella sucks, especially if it’s my first hour, but what are you gonna do? I saved myself by being active in class and working out how I could contribute in some way…even though all I wanted to do was go back to sleep. I already miss the guys back in KoOp, we even have different breaks, which kinda blows.
Tomorrow’s another shorter day – I’m excused from English for the first few lessons and then ther’s Philosophy and Maths… we’ll see what the day brings…

Mixed Emotions On The First Day Of Semester
January 30th, 2012 by Logan · No Comments
The last few weeks have been pretty up and down for me. With a few not-so-good marks in German, History and French. So after asking around a bit I decided to apply to move to the other college program. The main advantages being that I can choose English, rather than German as a major. The downside of course is that I’d have to repeat a semester.
Then today I found out I can’t change at all, because there aren’t enough places.
Really I should be happy, becaue it means that more people passed their exams than planned, and for me, well it just means I have to pull my socks up a litle more and study.
Wish me luck. I’ll keep you posted.

So a funny thing happened on the way to Switzerland…
March 17th, 2011 by Logan · No Comments
While on a trip to Switzerland, I decided ot do the right thing and buy the required Vignette (Toll fee or what have you) to allow me to drive into the country.
Little did I know, the car I had hired already had one attached, so I bought it for nothing.
Bad news for me, good news for you: The new Vignette is now available for sale on eBay.de.
http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110637907190&ssPageName=STRK:MESCX:IT
And, I will ship anywhere in the world.
Happy Bidding!

In the beginning, there was…
January 14th, 2011 by Logan · No Comments
I’m just going through The Challenge this year – with the commitment that I will follow through all the damn way this time. I am now up to the part where I can start publishing my own content on my blog – yay for me!
I still haven’t found a niche, and I let that get in my way last time(s) so this time I want to make sure I at least get the ball rolling and do all the tasks, even if my first ‘niche’ is me. :)
I’m a good enough product, right? My teaching is above par, and I often get great positive comments from students, who even ask me to offer private lessons etc. So why not start there?
Another idea would be for me to just follow my list of dreams and goals and chronicle them for you all to see how I progress. Why not?
The main thing is to get the ball rolling, and to get the foundation set up, so that all I have to do of a morning is to write a post, not dilly-dally about wondering if/how I am going to get started.
So here goes, thanks for watching, and Ialways welcome comments and suggestions.
Love,
Logan
