I guess it all started when...
I helped out a couple of people I met while they were
travelling around Brisbane, Australia. Brisbane is like a trap
for many backpackers. It's like people get lured in by the
beautiful weather all year 'round, then run out of money from
partying too much, then they try to find a job.
Realising there aren't to many in the city, they go fruit
picking up north and get stuck in the quasi-class system. Those
who have been around longer and know what's what end up getting
the best fruit-picking jobs. After a week of bending over to
pick tomatoes, you really become envious of those reaching up
to pick apples, but I degress.
One such fruit-picking adventurer was Leo, a student from
Berlin. We met one day while visiting a friend of mine who
lived around the corner. We got to talking and, since I had the
day off, I offered to show him around town for the day. We
quickly became friends and I helped him with a few basic
mistakes in his English.
I thought nothing of it until, fast forward a few years, I
decided to follow up one of my many childhood dreams and go to
Germany for a year. Having met a German girl didn't hurt
either, and before I knew it, I had booked a flight to
Germany and taken a TEFL course to give my casual 'volunteer
teaching' hours some substance. (read: drinking beer and
talking in English)
So here I am, in Leo's country, teaching my language to
CEO's and school students alike. In this section you will find
a link to my English teaching business, as well as a few books
and websites I have found useful. I'll expand on the list
according to demand. Contact me if
you have any questions.
